Rehabilitation

We participate in rehabilitation efforts including emergency first aid, retrieval of injured birds from the wild, and flight therapy for potentially releasable birds of prey. This aspect of the program involves cooperation with regional wildlife rehabilitators and veterinarians to provide the best possible care for birds with health problems. We collaborate closely with the Cornell Wildlife Health Center, which provides all veterinary care and hospitalization care.

In the event that you may find an injured bird of prey, please contact …

An injured Cooper’s Hawk found in the Ithaca Commons was rescued by our director, Dr. Huson, and two students from the Cornell Raptor Program. The hawk was treated at the Janet L. Swanson Wildlife Health Center and was eventually able to be rehabilitated and released back into the wild!
